Exhibition view, Trompe L’Oeil: I veri inganni della fotografia, Spazio Forma, Milan.

Trompe-l'œil (/trɒmp ˈlɔɪ/ tromp LOY, French: [tʁɔ̃p lœj]; French for "deceive the eye") is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that depicted objects exist in three dimensions. Forced perspective is a comparable illusion in architecture.

The French phrase means "deceives the eye" and is used to describe paintings that create the illusion of real objects or scenes.

2/3 explores the relationship between truth and fiction, amplifying the paradox that, even today, despite advances in digital technology, photography is still often seen as irrefutable "proof of reality." At the same time, it remains a personal interpretation of the very reality it seeks to document. The three images in the project come from the artist’s family photo archive, selected and purchased from her mother. While they are supposedly meant to represent the same person as a memory of participation in a sporting event, one of the photographs, however, features a stranger.
