Chiara Zandona's research explores the relationship between photography and the collective visual vocabulary, as well as the interplay between digital images, the technological unconscious, and perception in a hyper-consumerist culture. She examines the processes that influence how images shape our visual culture, using both conscious and unconscious methodologies. Specifically, she investigates the use of representative symbols and icons within social media platforms.
In this work, icon images are collected, analysed, and transformed in an effort to materialize them in physical space as a statement of research intent. These digital-born files, originally designed for virtual environments and not intended for tangible form, are reimagined and presented as part of an exploration into concepts of familiarity, identity representation, and collective visual language.
